FGI Community Update: April 2026

April is Financial Literacy Month, and it’s been a meaningful time for us to reflect on the work happening across the FGI community and the role investing plays in building long-term financial confidence.

This month, we’re using Financial Literacy Month to spotlight something we think deserves more attention in the conversation: investing.

We’ve been sharing perspectives from educators and tutors across the FGI community on why investing education matters and what it looks like in the classroom. So far, we’ve heard from Arnold Guerrero, a CTE teacher in San Antonio, and Jack Davis, one of our lead tutors from the University of Notre Dame.

Still to come: a conversation with Dr. Loretta Evivie from Queens University of Charlotte, along with perspectives from FGI students themselves.

From the Classroom to the Workplace

Students in our program have been getting out of the classroom and into real-world environments.

In Philadelphia, students from our Washington, DC program started their day at Drexel University before visiting the Brandywine offices, part of Franklin Templeton. They connected with students and professionals and saw how concepts from the classroom show up in practice.

In Atlanta, Roark hosted a career day for local high school students in the FGI program, giving them the opportunity to learn directly from industry professionals and explore different career paths and learn from professionals across a range of roles.

These experiences help make the concepts we teach more tangible and show students what’s possible.

Thank you to our partners Brandywine Global and Roark for opening their doors and creating these opportunities for our students.

We’re also grateful to our school partners, Drexel University, Second Mile, and KIPP DC NAF, for championing financial literacy education.

Team FGI at the 2026 TCS NYC Marathon

We’ve officially selected our runners for the 2026 New York City Marathon and will be introducing Team FGI in the coming weeks.

We’re looking forward to supporting them as they begin their journey.
