Updated: Dec 22, 2021

NEW YORK, December 17, 2021

First Generation Investors (“FGI”), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that works to provide high school students in underserved communities with the knowledge and skills to thrive in the investment economy, today announced a partnership with JST Capital (“JST”), a global financial services firm specializing in digital assets. Through this partnership, JST will provide funding to FGI’s Columbia University branch in an effort to give high-school students in underprivileged communities the tools to gain financial independence through making educated investment decisions.

"FGI is proud to partner with JST Capital to give our students the opportunity to learn about the emerging digital ecosystem from leading industry professionals" said FGI Head of Partnerships, Charlie Ewig. "JST's commitment to mentorship and furthering FGI's mission of spreading financial literacy makes this partnership a major success for the FGI community and we know this is only the beginning."

With branches located throughout the United States, FGI mentors and volunteers work with high-school students and provide them with the necessary knowledge and insight to invest with confidence. The organization provides students with real money to invest and walks them through the entire investing process. Upon completion of the FGI program, and turning 18, the students are given full control over their portfolio and are able to leverage their real-world experience to make educated investment decisions.

Scott Freeman, Co-Founder and Partner at JST Capital, commented on the news, “At JST, we believe that financial literacy is a skill that is often overlooked. It is important that everyone is able to invest with confidence in order to be financially independent. Programs like FGI are instrumental in giving students a head start, and we are excited to do our part.”
